Smoothies are a great way to make sure your kids are getting plenty of nutrients on a regular basis. These three smoothies for kids are packed full of flavor, real food, and tons of nutrients!
You guys, I did something. I wrote a recipe. Three of them actually. I made three recipes for smoothies for kids. Now, I am not a food blogger, like at all. But I am a mom who makes 3 meals and approximately 42,357,156 snacks a day. I know what kids like, well my kids anyway, and I think I’ve gotten pretty good at making nutrient dense snacks that my kiddos love!

And a smoothie (or “smoovie” as my kids call it) is always a hit!
A Little Background
A few weeks ago a company called Sneakz reached out to me and asked if my kids and I would like to try their product.
Before I agreed I decided to do a little research about the company.
Sneakz makes milkshakes and protein powders for kids……that sneaks in veggies!! Get it?? Sneakz? Because they sneak in veggies……..
Plus, Sneakz uses clean ingredients that I feel good about feeding my kids, and leave out the yucky stuff like soy and carrageenan. Ya’ll, do you know how hard it is to find chocolate milk without carrageenan or soy? Or corn syrup?? Yuck.
My kids hardly ever have flavored milk because I rarely come across brands that I feel good about.
Enter Sneakz. After my research I replied with an enthusiastic “heck yeah, send me what you’ve got and let’s put it to the kid test.”
Now if you have kids, you know exactly what the kid test is. Kids will tell you exactly how it is. My son once told me he didn’t like my new sweatshirt because it was “too mom fashion.” Whatever that means.
They have absolutely no filter, so I knew if they liked anything from Sneakz it was definitely gold.
When the package arrived my kids were so pumped!! It was like Christmas morning in our house.

“Is that for us mommy? Can we try it mommy?”
They couldn’t wait so we busted out a chocolate milkshake for each of them right there on the spot. And guess what?
It passed the kid test with flying colors. They gulped it down and asked for more. And I felt good about them having a chocolate milk drink before dinner because it has ingredients I feel good about AND a half serving of veggies!
The Kid Test
Over the next few weeks my kids tried all three flavors of milkshakes (chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry) and they loved them all (and so did I!!). Like begged for them loved them. I can’t tell you how many times I came downstairs in the morning to find my oldest watching cartoons and sipping on a Sneakz milkshake.
Or how many times I opened the fridge and had to fight my toddler because he was trying to steal another box while I wasn’t looking!
And we really put those boxes to the test, we took them with us to the zoo……..
…..we took them rock climbing……..
……and even saved a few just for our lazy days at home.
And they held up to our active lifestyle and kept my boys healthy and happy! (My toddler LOVED these too, he just doesn’t hold still long enough to be an official model!)
The Protein Powders
Then we got to the protein powders (which also come in chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla flavors). My boys are incredibly active and lean. They’ve always been more interested in playing than eating so I’m constantly trying to find a way to pack in the most calories and nutrients into snacks and meals.
Enter the Sneakz vegan protein powders. Now, I’ll be honest, usually anything labeled vegan sends me running. (Sorry vegans, I just love bacon too much.) But you can’t beat the clean ingredients PLUS 10 grams of protein AND a whole serving of vegetables per scoop. It was everything I never knew my boys needed.
Seriously, I’ve spent years trying to sneak vegetables, healthy fats, and protein into two active boys who would much rather grab a handful of blueberries or crackers in between activities. I use protein powders for myself all the time and it literally never occurred to me to use it for my kids.
But it makes so much sense, and now when they have a smoothie I know they’re getting some substance along with all that blended up fruit.
Now when they need a snack and I’m on the couch nursing a hungry baby, they can grab a smoothie pouch out of the fridge and I rest easy knowing the smoothing is packed with fruit, veggies, and protein (thanks Sneakz). BOOM! Mom win!
3 Smoothies for Kids
I whipped up three smoothies for kids using each flavor of the Sneakz protein powders and let me tell you they are delicious. My boys couldn’t keep their hands off of them…..my husband included!! And what they didn’t drink immediately (which wasn’t much, I was barely able to keep some to photograph!) I poured into reusable pouches and put in the fridge. (I couldn’t find my exact reusable pouches but I linked similar ones, really every mom should have reusable pouches in the house, they’re super versatile and easy to use and clean.)
Note: I don’t add ice to my smoothies because I think it makes the texture funny. If you like super cold smoothies I recommend using frozen fruit or pouring the smoothie over ice.
Banana-Peach Smoothie with Vanilla Protein Powder
- 8 oz milk
- 2 ripe bananas (peeled and cut into 3-4 small pieces each)
- 3 ripe peaches (skinned, and cut away from the core; probably about 1 small bag of frozen peaches)
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 2 tbsp. coconut oil
I like to place the milk in first, it reduces the splash factor! Just toss everything in the blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy immediately, it will keep in the fridge for a day or two.
Strawberry-Banana Smoothie with Strawberry Protein Powder
- 8 oz milk
- 1 ripe banana (peeled and cut into 3-4 small pieces)
- 1-2 cups of strawberries (fresh or frozen; if fresh be sure to remove all the stems first)
- 1 scoop strawberry protein powder
- 2 tbsp. coconut oil
Again start with the milk, it reduces the splash factor! Just toss everything in the blender and blend until smooth. You can add more strawberries as desired, I find that one cup of fresh, ripe strawberries is plenty. Enjoy immediately, it will keep in the fridge for a day or two.
Pro tip: try swapping in blueberries in either of these recipes, it’s sure to be a winner and turns the smoothie a cool purple color!
Chocolate-Peanut Butter Smoothie with Chocolate Protein Powder
*Note: if you have a kiddo who is allergic to peanut butter, or can’t take peanuts to school I suggest using sun butter instead. You can find it in the same area of the grocery storeas the peanut butter, it’s a a great alternative to peanut butter. I find it has a similar consistency and taste and my kids don’t even notice the difference!
- 12 oz milk
- 1 ripe bananas (peeled)
- 2 tbsp. peanut butter (be sure to find peanut butter that is made from just peanuts, no added sugar or oils)
- 2 tbsp. nutella (look for a brand that has clean ingredients, I use the Kirkland brand from Costco)
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- (optional) 1/4 cup of rolled oats.
Place all ingredients in the blender and blend! I recommend drinking this smoothie right away, the peanut butter and Nutella tend to firm up in the fridge and make it harder to squeeze out of a reusable pouch. Also, I like adding the oats because I think it gives the smoothie a little something extra, but it does give the drink a different texture. If you have a kiddo who is picky about texture I would suggest leaving the oats out.
Bonus tip: These smoothies would be awesome popsicles too!! Just pour into a popsicle mold, freeze overnight, and BOOM!! You’ve got a delicious, cold treat for those hot summer days. Your kids will love it and it’s free from dyes and yucky ingredients. You’re welcome!
